Invasion of "Massive Territory"

Saturday came and the day of the take over of "Massive Territory" arrived [some Godzilla sound in background can be heard]. Let the chaos begin... or something like that.

I managed to pull myself from Mr Zhao's place aka sleep rather early in the morning. Got up at a respectable hour of 7. [proud of myself]

Since I was not familiar with the place (although I drove to Zouk before), I opted for the monorail. I had to kick my younger sis out of bed to send me here. [evil laugh]

Reaching the Bukit Nanas station, I saw Pui Yee on the monorail train that came from the opposite direction. Coincidently arriving there at the same time. Cool~!

Massive Territory is a conference where top inspiring international and local designers gather to extort money from poor art students like us by taking RM110 entrance fee.. Joking la. I believe it's to give exposure, motivation and inspiration to budding young local designers (I was there somehow as a science person).

It was held here, the Malaysian Tourism Centre. First time being there... No reason to come here before. Odd place to hold a conference like this... Maybe the rent's cheap. [shrugs]

Curiously, there were a few stall setup up by local, young designers, outside the amphitheatre. I'll talk more about this later in this blog...

Right, the conference talk had a healthy series of speakers such as Jun Ning (Malaysia), Kustaa Saksi (Finland), Chris Lee (Singapore), Scien (123Klan), Kinetic Team (Singapore), Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo Lab (Japan), Joshua Davis (United States). Above is Jun Ning speaking about Saladin.

This one's from Chris Lee, Creative Director of Asylum. How curious. Asylum is our theme for our graduation campaign. I like how Chris Lee did his presentation kit. It was like a silent movie feel and it had an interesting twist of telling the company history. It was very funny~!

It is conference like this that the Intermission can came to the rescue.. Sitting in a big amphitheatre, even in comfortable cushioned seats, you'd want to stretch your legs and get off your bum. Plus it gives time for the brain to absorb the information dished out from the speakers.

It was no easy task going out of the theatre. Everyone was stopping to look at the display and things outside.

Seeing this dim sum baskets remind me of how difficult it was to find cheap food around. It's so queer why there aren't people making use of this opportunity of set up a food stall. If I open a food stall, I bet ya all my food would sell off. Marketing, people~! [sigh]

It seeems that Pui Yee was able to spot some of the people there whom she knows. Walking with her the whole day, she managed to spot quite a number... This one was one of them. Tada, Jay Lim. Ladies, he's taken. Hahaha~!

So since there weren't any place that Pui Yee and I could go for lunch, we went around to satisfy our photography hunger instead.

Oh look, KL towers.

Maybe a close up would make it more interesting. Nah, still looks the same.

As first half was over, we were told that there was a demo of graffiti. Here we set our eyes on the miracle of graffiti in five photo shots.

One~!

Two~!

Three~!

Four~!

Five~! Tada, done. It took about 20 minutes for this to be done. I was worried that the talk had started without us.

But lo and behold, our dear graffiti artist, Scien was the next speaker. Haha~! He and his wife, Klor are from a group called 123Klan from France.

Our last speaker was a dude that frankly before this conference I only knew his name, Joshua Davis. Sweii was crazy about him, Pui Yee was crazy about him. Ok...

Turns out he's an excellent speaker. His talk was about the only one where he encouraged audition response and had us laughing til our sides hurt. He has a mean knowledge of programming and knew how to use it to the advantage of Work Smart.

So after the talk, there was a discussion session with ended very quickly and then an autograph session. Here's Pui Yee taking her turn to get Joshua Davis to sign.

I waited for the crowd to disperse and then got him to autograph and take this photo with me. Neat~! I liked his charisma.

It was funny on how Joshua and Scien was somewhat "competing" on who can sign all their fans signature first. Joshua won. Hahha~!

Here's our MM peeps who attended this conference. Probably would have dragged the MM lecturers who came too into the photo except they dashed off somewhere. [shrugs]

Crazy people~!

It was about 7pm by the time we walked out of the MTC and we were very very hungry. No lunch and then it was dinnertime. Ooo... nice sky~! ["Ka-click" goes the camera]

Made our way to Sungai Wang and stopped to stop at my favourite shop, Hot Mama. This was my third time here, first introduced by Pui Yee. If the shop's good and the price is good, I'll comeback to the shop.

I had myself Hot Mama Assam Laksa and...

Honey Lime drink (both the shop's specialities).

Pui Yee had Chinese Stir Fry Pasta...

With Water Chestnut drink. Yummy

And for dessert, Tapioca Double Delight. It was soooooooooooooo Good~! I recommend this shop to anyone. The price is acceptable and the atmosphere's nice.

So after dinner, I made my way back to KL central to wait for someone to fetch me home. KL central is now so busy with it being a bus terminal and...

a taxi stop. It used to be nice and free. [sigh] It was because of the jam and the lively Brickfields that for some apparent reason selling lots of bamboo stalks and flowers that night, I got home later.

But look~! These were my spoils of the day. Muahaha~! All in all, it was a very fun day

It took me the whole day Sunday to resize and upload them photos. Crazy Internet. Hope you had fun reading it. Cheers~!
