Midterm Break

I'm on my 1 week break of my midterm... And I'm writing this on the Saturday... [sobs] It's ending already....

21st Sept 2008 Sunday

I met up with Sabrina and I took her to DFO (after some minor detour... aka a little lost) Xp We went to see all the clothes and stuff. Had wanted to buy t-shirts (it was a 2 for $ sale) but I could only find 1 t-shirt... Oh well.

After that, we made our way to meet up with Su Jin. It was really nice to see Su Jin, Lohon, Nick and Shin Yeu after such a long time. [hugs Shin Yue] Only Su Jin and Lohon continued on with Sabrina and I to go grab some dessert.

This is their Mars bar cake. Unfortunately I can't really remember how a Mars bar taste like so I ate it as a chocolate cake. [grin]
I also had a latte. My brain could use a kick start. [lol]

So yea, between the 4 of us, we ordered 3 cakes, the Mars bar cake, the baked cheese cake and the blackberry cake. After some the cake session, we decided to go try our luck in the casino. I wasn't so lucky that night as I only broke even at the end of the day. Sabrina was luckier than me and Lohon.

When dinnertime came strolling along, we traded the gambling table for a dining table. [lol] We made our way to Chek Lee's fiance's house for her fiance had made dinner. The food he made were thumbs up~! [grin] He works as a chef in one of the restaurants in Crown. We even had a "show" of sorts. [snicker] I'll put one word: cross-dressing. But that's all I say about it.

24th Sept 2008 Wednesday Yoong Yoong, Jaslyn, Man Yee and myself went to the Royal Melbourne Show. The ticket entrace cost Aus17.
There were many types of ride there.
Even my favourite "spinning chairs" ride. XD I don't know the real name for that ride... but there's one in Genting and I always sit in that ride so I didn't sit the one here for you see. The entrance cost Aus17 but you still have to pay to ride the rides.
The first one we sat was really the most intense ride that we could find.
Yoong Yoong, Jaslyn and myself decided to sit on this one while Man Yee took all the photos for us since she couldn't bring herself to sit "intense" rides.
See for yourself how the ride is like... that's the starting position..
It's like sitting in a washing machine.... I guess...
Round and round, upside down..
And then before you know it, you're all clean... I mean done. Xp That ride cost Aus9 to sit..
And onto the next ride~! [grin]
The next ride we choose was a slightly less intense ride for Man Yee to join us. We had to pay Aus8 for this one.. It was just a ride where you sit 2 by 2 in a pod of sorts on a track and it travel forwards and then backwards. After that ride, having enough spinny spinny rides for the day, we decided to head off elsewhere.
Oh yea, with the ticket entrance we were given a scratch and win ticket. I got a free cadbury chocolate bar. [grin]
It was getting a little hot for our taste so we decided to try to take some shelter in the showbag hall...
But I guess everyone was thinking the same thing. [lol]
A showbag is a bag full of goodies and there are many types of showbags.
It's promotion priced for you get a set of things for a cheaper price. They cost about aus 10 - 25. I bought a wonka showbag. [grin] Candy goodies for me and Man Yee bought a kitkat showbag.
Just a photo of the rides and an accidental top portrait of a bald man [lol]
Other than showbags and rides, there are farm animals to see too. The little piggies are so cute. They remind me of babe.
Here's a black babe... I mean black piglet. [lol]
Speaking of pigs, all these people are gathered here to see some...
With these kind of setup, you must be wondering just what type of pigs could command such a big crowd like this.
Pigs in weird costumes~! [lol]
That and something else too.. Let me hear you cheer~!
For the racing pigs~!
Not only did we get to see racing pigs but also this...
Diving ones~! [lol]
Other than pigs, there were other animals too like these geese.
And dogs, horses, dogs on horses....
Turtles.. Ehh.. Teenage mutant ninja turtles~! Cowabunga~! [lol]
There were also sheep~! So cute~! [pats their head]
We tried our hand on the carnival games... There's Man Yee. To get the big prizes, you have to score 5 or 30.
You're given 5 ping pong balls and there are slots with number inside the clown. The number range from 1 - 6. Needless to say, you have to push your ball through this constantly moving pipe, making it hard for you to aim... But they played just for fun at a cost of aus5 per game.
Teeehehe... you can see pictures like these throught the fair. Miss Read, Carebears, Simpsons, Happy tree friends.... etc. It's all marketing and branding re-enforcement.
Oh, here's a buffalo. Though the first word that came to my head was kerbau... [grin]
With all that walking, we decided to settle down for dinner at the Coca-cola Arena for a show. This is my dinner... fish and chips.
Yoong Yoong and Jaslyn ordered from the same seafood store too, though theirs is whiting and calamari.
I found this tactic pretty smart and amusing. To keep the audience waiting patiently, they record the audience and display in the big screen in front. Needless to say, many of them waving enthusistically.
The first thing that we saw was people racing little ponies...
Oh wait, they are children on these little ponies but the ponies are actually strong enough to carry an adult. Impressive.
After the racing horses, we can see that they were setting up some cars... It was pretty exciting for me to see them lift the wrecked cars and setting them up. [lol] Yea, I'm weird.
Instead of the monster truck, we were surprised with a daring horse rider with his tricks...
I only managed to capture the last trick really... my camera isn't suited for fast sequences like this as you can see from the super duper obvious motion blur happening. I hope you can see that the dude is standing upright on his horse holding a flag...
Ahh~! Here comes the monster truck action.
That's Samson the monster truck. I don't know why it's named Samson but it is. Not that I'd insult seeing that the tyres themselves are as tall as an adult...
I like my bones just the way they are, thank you very much... Samson was very loud though. 1000 horsepower. Heh.
Here's something a little smaller. Gosh... All you can see in the sky is a streak of white... [lol]
That streak of white is a BMX biker performing a jump trick.
Awesome just how 'they fly through the air, with the greatest of ease...' [nod nod nod] Sitting in the open air arena on a cold night is pretty hard...
So the first thing we happily dashed to was this heater. [lol]
We were also here to watch the laser and fireworks show.
However, we were so close of some of the fireworks that some of us could feel the debris or ash from the fireworks. Fireworks 1
Fireworks 2
Fireworks 3
Fireworks 4
Fireworks and laser
I must say that I've seen better fireworks and laser shows than this....
I'll note here that my attention was taken when a small fire occured on the top of one of the roofs where the fireworks were launched from.
After the fireworks show, we made our way back to the train station, Showgrounds. Along the way, I took some night shots of the rides. Pretty colourful...
We left the royal melbourne show at about 9.30pm / 10pm...
Oh this is the free chocolate that I won with the scratch card.
And these are the contents of my Wonka show bag. Candy~! [munch munch crunch crunch] I really need to see the dentist when I get back.

25th and 26th Sept 2008
It's no fun when during the holidays, you have to attend a compulsory talk.. [sigh] For some reason, I was pretty depressed after the talk.

And now it's Saturday... It's going to be rather full on after the holidays so I think it's wise if I stay off blogging for a while ya. We'll see how long I can keep myself away from blogging. Til next time, cheers~!
